Reps. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and James Comer, R-Ky., are demanding an immediate congressional investigation into the “integrity of the 2020 election.”
The two called for a probe in a Wednesday letter to Reps. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., chairman of the Judiciary Committee, and Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., who chairs the Committee on Oversight and Reform.
A copy of the letter was posted on the House Judiciary GOP Twitter account.
“We urge you to immediately convene hearings to examine the integrity of the 2020 election amid troubling reports of irregularities and improprieties,” they said in the letter. ”Given your role as leaders of a political party that spent four years baselessly calling into question the legitimacy of the 2016 election with debunked allegations of Russia collusion, you owe it to all Americans to fully examine allegations of actual election errors and misconduct.”
The two congressmen noted that they had released a report back in September “detailing how Democrats across the country were pushing last-minute changes to state election laws and procedures.” And Jordan and Comer said they had warned that those initiatives “would increase the risk of election-related crimes and errors.”
They added: “These serious concerns give rise to the urgent need for congressional oversight of the integrity of the 2020 election.”
President Donald Trump is claiming to have won the election and that “voter fraud” occurred “all over the country.” Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s personal attorney, is in charge of campaign lawsuits challenging the vote count.
