Joe Biden will campaign in Georgia for the two Democratic candidates in the state’s runoff elections.
“Winning those two Senate seats in Georgia is important, but we’re going to do everything we can to help those two candidates,” Ron Klain, Biden’s longtime adviser and chief of staff, said Sunday on ABC News’ “This Week.”
Polling currently shows tight races between Democrat Raphael Warnock and Republican incumbent Kelly Loeffler and Jon Ossoff and David Perdue. Ossoff, a Democrat, will need to make up the nearly 90,000 votes he ran behind the GOP incumbent on Nov. 3.
“We’ve already moved people who were working on the Biden campaign on the recounts down there over to be supportive in the fieldwork for our two candidates down there, and I expect you’ll see the president-elect travel down there before Election Day,” Klain said on ABC.
Several news outlets have called the race for Biden. Newsmax has yet to project a winner, citing close races in several battleground states. President Donald Trump Jr. has refused to concede as his legal team continues to battle the counts in court.
Georgia on Saturday certified Biden as the winner after a hand recount.
