Homosexuality, abortion good in CCHD’s book

A Catholic agency is not responding to allegations about it using church charity dollars to support immoral causes.

In his 13 years of investigating Catholic charities, Michael Hichborn of the Lepanto Institute has reported some astounding ways money has been spent.

“Three organizations in Nashville, Tennessee receiving large donations from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) are directly involved in the promotion of abortion and homosexuality,” is his report about his more recent findings.

Stand Up Nashville, Memphis Interfaith Coalition for Action and Hope, and Nashville Organized for Action and Hope received collectively $245,000 from the church.

“What we discovered is that each of those organizations are in direct violation of CCHD grant guidelines because they are directly attacking the moral foundations of the Catholic Church herself,” Hichborn explains.

His organization has not gotten a response from church officials about it.

“What they do is they issue blanket statements,” the Lepanto Institute founder details. The church will accuse his research and education organization dedicated to the defense of the Catholic Church “against assaults from without as well as from within” of making baseless attacks against the church because it supposedly “just can’t stand the work that we do in order to help Christ’s poor.”

But Hichborn adds that they never get around to addressing the factual, proven information that is released — that money is flowing from the church to organizations that promote homosexuality and abortion.
